Latex foam toppers

So when we talked about latex mattresses being substitute for the memory foam ones it is obvious that this also goes the other way around…but if you remember the other (much cheaper) way to substitute the memory foam mattress – by getting a memory foam topper you’ll figure out that there are also latex foam toppers. That’s what we’re gonna talk about now.
Latex foam toppers just like the memory foam ones are the cheaper solution if you can’t afford the entire mattress. Of course it’s better if you get a mattress. After all it contains several layers of either memory foam or latex foam and every layer helps your body in a different way, but sometimes that’s simply out of our financial abilities. So the next best thing if you’ve chosen latex before memory foam is the latex foam topper.
It’s basically the same like the memory foam topper – just one layer of latex foam that’s put on top of your old mattress. Again, here we have different type of latex toppers depending on their density, purity and size. Those differences reflect on the price of course. But before we get to the price tags let us show you the differences between the latex foam toppers and the memory foam toppers just as we did when reviewing the mattresses. As you already know the latex is a natural product contrary to the memory foam. Being that it is naturally hypoallergenic and anti-microbial. Many of the pricier latex foam toppers do not contain any synthetic additives which makes them not only people-friendly, but also eco-friendly. But there’s one thing that really differs memory foam form the latex and this is the air circulation going through them. Fact is that latex as found in nature is the milky sap of many plants that coagulates on exposure to air. This coagualation makes it dificult for the air to go through it. But air is important so that your topper stays dry and freash night after night, a solution to that difficult air circulation is the air ventilation prforation. This perforation is done as the latex is poured in a mold that contains small metal posts. The final result is a topper covered with holes. Anyway it works great and it’s essential for a perfect latex foam topper. Another big difference is that the latex it better for heavier body weights as it is more springy and resilient. The memtory foam answer to that is that it adjusts to bodyweight more readily, alowing an easier transition from one sleep porture to the next.
As to the price tags as I alredy said they can vary - around $550 for a king size, 4 inch, 4lb (highest quality) topper down to $150 for a twin size, 2 inch, 2 lb (lower quality) topper.
Well, as we said when we were talking about mattresses, there’s no bad choice. Whether you chose memory foam or latex topper you’re already on a journey of improving your sleep.

Memory foam toppers

Statistics show that 60% of all Europe is using memory foam mattresses. Still there are many people that don’t know what exactly memory foam mattresses are and how exactly memory foam works. We should start by saying that there are many types if different memory foam, some better than the others, some worse. Lately the most popular type and let’s say probably the most used one is the Visco elastic memory foam. It may sound a little weird (or not), but the Visco elastic memory foam is actually a NASA creation. And is not a new one as it dates from the early 70s. Of course NASA’s usage of the Visco elastic foam has nothing to do with mattresses, but was used for the astronauts’ space suits to protect them from the enormous pressures of G Force during take off and missions. The memory foam has very moulding characteristics and the ability to absorb heat. Moulding characteristics means that it will mould to your body shape whatever size and spread your body weight evenly over the surface of your mattress enabling a peaceful and restful sleep – the one everybody needs before facing the next day. If you wake up with stiff back and pain in the neck it is probably because you mattress is either too soft or hard. Memory foam mattress can change that. Usually the problem is that there is quite a pressure applied to the various joints when you sleep. And the only solution is to reduce that pressure. The memory foam mattress is the best one for the job, because it will contour the joints without pushing against them. But what happens if you just can’t afford getting a memory foam mattress. And trust me with the prices they hold that’s not something unheard of. But there is a solution for that problem, too - the so called memory foam toppings. Basically the memory foam toppings are just one of the many layers if the memory foam mattress – usually the top one. They are also made by Visco elastic memory foam and possess all of its abilities, but cost much cheaper than a new mattress. Their thickness differs, but usually is not more than 5 inches. There is also a difference in the density of the Visco elastic foam. Usually the big department stores sell toppers with density of the foam 3lb or less. This density is near the one of the ordinary polyurethane foam which is cheaper, but doesn’t really have good memory properties. If you want a good memory foam topper you should look for one with density of either 4lb or 5lb. Once you’ve chosen you memory foam topper the rest is easy you just lay it on top of your old mattress and enjoy a good night sleep.
